West Indies finally broke their nine-match losing streak against India in ODIs.
Courtesy of a stellar bowling display from bowlers followed by composed fifty from Shai Hope and a 48-run knock from Keacy Carty helped West Indies edge over India by six wickets in the second ODI at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados
Regular Skipper Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were rested. Early in the game, the host won the toss and elected to bowl first. Indian openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan put together a solid partnership, scoring 90 runs for the first wicket. Gill was dismissed for 34 by Gudakesh Motie, and India's wickets then fell at regular intervals.
Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja added 33 runs for the sixth wicket, but Romario Shepherd broke the partnership by dismissing Jadeja. Motie then dismissed Suryakumar for 24, and Alzarri Joseph picked up wickets in quick succession to bowl India out for 181 in 40.5 overs.
In reply to India's 181, West Indies openers Kyle Mayers and Brandon King got off to a good start and put together 53 runs for the first wickets. Shardul Thakur broke the partnership by dismissing Brandon King for 15 runs. Thakur not only broke the partnership but he also dismissed Kyle Mayers and Alick Athanaze in his spell.
However, Hope and Keacy Carty came together and put on a brilliant partnership, scoring 91 runs for the fifth wicket. Hope scored 63 off 80 balls, while Carty scored 48 off 65 balls and West Indies won the match by six wickets. Shai Hope was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant knock of 63 runs off 80 balls.
