Cricketing Trends on Social Media today
Here's how the cricketers spent their day on Twitter and Instagram today.
The cricketing trends on social media revolved around a number of events. England Test captain Joe Root was outstanding in the opening Test against Sri Lanka and he has been brilliant in the ongoing Test at the Galle International Stadium. In the first game, he notched a double century, helping his team to a comfortable win by seven wickets.
He came to bat after the Brits lost their openers cheaply after which Root came to bat. But instead of going into his shell, he started playing his strokes. At the end of the second day’s play, he was unbeaten on 67 runs and was playing at a strike-rate of around 90. In the fourth day’s play, he started from where he left. He racked up another ton.
Most importantly, he led the Three Lions to a decent lead. After yet another masterclass with the bat in hand, Root was showered with wishes from the cricket fraternity. Michael Vaughan, the former England cricketer termed it as one of the best tons he has seen at the highest level. Shoaib Akhtar, the Pakistan fast bowler, went on a road-trip to Islamabad.
Niall O’Brien was happy after Paul Stirling scored a century against Afghanistan. Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen was happy after playing some golf on a winter morning. Ben Duckett is ready to take part in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
