Delhi court to pronounce order on framing of charges on June 29 for Spot-Fixing case in IPL, 2013: Delhi Court would be pronouncing its order tomorrow on framing of the charges for the spot fixing case in the Indian Premier League, 2013. Players in the likes of S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan have been accused for the same and were suspended by the BCCI. Also, names of Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel have been accused for the same.
Additional Session Judge, Neena Bansal Krishna on May 23rd, had reserved for Monday for the framing of charges in the case and had also asked the counsel appearing for the accused to file their arguments in a written format, if there are any by the 6th June.
Also, the special cell of the Delhi Police had named 42 as accused in the case in its respective charge sheet and among them, 6 are absconding.
The investigation was being carried out by the police in the case and had earlier come under scanner of the court which had questioned the respective theory of ‘match fixing’, saying there were no solid evidences to prove that the matches were fixed by the respective accused.
Several arguments were being put forward by the police. The police had used pre-recorded telephonic conversations among the accused to support their claim for the matter. Also, the police had alleged those call detail records clearly and it reflected the linkage of accused persons, who were involved in the spot fixing matters during the IPL, 2013.
The advocates representing the accused, had respectively countered the submission of such arguments and countered it as improper evidence for the same.
Earlier, the court had declared Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel as the accused offenders in the matter and warranted their immediate arrest.
Also, the names of Dawood and Shakeel had already been attached to the ones in the 1993 Mumbai blasts and reportedly, they did not come to India since then.
The police authorities had also filed a 6000 page charge sheet against the various accused in the respective case. In addition to it, a supplementary charge sheet had been filed later on.
Bails were being granted to Sreesanth, Chavan and various others who were accused due to the lack of the evidences against them under the provisions of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
