Former Indian all-rounder and world cup winning captain Kapil Dev at a recent event when asked about Dhoni as India’s skipper. Kapil said ‘He is the best man to continue as India’s captain and that he is one of the best finishers in limited over’s cricket. Kapil even said that people should not even think of replacing him and he should continue to lead India in all the three formats of the game

He even felt that Dhoni is the best man to lead the young Indian team into the World Cup in New Zealand and Australia in a year’s time. “If Dhoni is fit enough there should be no doubt because he is one of the finest batsmen we have and coming in at number 6-7 and averaging more than 50, why should we have any doubts. Somebody who has won us the World Cup, the T20 World Cup… why do we even talk about it and bring doubts in people’s mind,” Kapil said

Earlier after India’s defeat in South Africa and New Zealand in continuation to the debacle in England and Australia cries were loud of replacing Dhoni and giving the role to Virat Kohli. The pioneer in it was Former Australian skipper Ian Chappell who had suggested that Virat Kohli be given the Test captaincy.

Asked about it, Kapil said Kohli should not be rushed into a skipper’s role.
“The only thing is when you have such a senior captain it will only lead to confusion in the team if you make Kohli captain and Dhoni playing under him. It’s not fair. He will get his chance why should we push him, when the time comes he will be there. Dhoni is a mature captain so let him do the job, the day he retires then management will see.”

His recent success in the World T20 after a well deserved break in the Asia cup where the team not only missed him as a captain and a batsman but also as a wicket keeper might have well prompted Kapil to say so. We hope Dhoni leads India to yet another ICC title their second World T20 championship and all such speculations would come to a rest. India would be in best position in the World Cup 2015 if they go into the tournament under MS Dhoni.
