‘Did you say Colgate?’ - Stump-mic catches David Warner and Labuschagne sledging Shan Masood
Earlier, Tim Paine had also taken a hilarious jibe at Mohammed Rizwan on Day 1.
Australia defeated Pakistan by an innings and five runs in 1st Test at The Gabba in Brisbane. The hosts had dominated the Men in Green in all departments of the game. However, the Australian players’ comments on the stump mic have gone viral once again more than the victory. If it was Tim Paine the other day, this time David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne were involved in a hilarious conversation.
The Aussie cricketers hold a strong history of committing such acts during the game in order to make opposition players lose their concentration. However, sometimes it also paves the way for the controversy and on a few occasions, it turns out to be a friendly banter between the two players like it was between Paine and Rishabh Pant last summer.
David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne recorded chirping about Colgate in the 1st Test
On the Day 1 of the game, Tim Paine, the Aussie skipper had come up with a hilarious comment over Mohammad Rizwan that his scent smells really nice and that got recorded by the mics fitted in the stumps. However, this time it was David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne who were heard talking about toothpaste. The incident happened when Shan Masood, the Pakistan opener, was facing Nathan Lyon on the fourth day.
Labuschagne was fielding at short leg when he was spotted chirping about Colgate. This word attracted the sight of David Warner, who was standing at the slip. As soon as the ball was bowled, the Aussie opener hilariously asked his teammate if he said, Colgate. “What did you just say Marnus? Colgate? Did you say, Colgate?” Warner said as quoted by Fox Cricket.
One of the players in the field confirmed it with affirmation that Labuschagne took the name of toothpaste brand. And, it was the moment when Warner took a hilarious jibe on Masood, who was the batsman on the strike. And said, if the batter was bad at his breath. “What are you implying? What, he’s got bad breath does he?” Aussie opener added.
Later on, when the over ended, the former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist in an amusing fashion said that he had never heard such references on personal hygiene in his life.“I’ve never heard so many references to personal hygiene in my life,” Gilchrist said while commentating.
David Warner (154) and Marnus Labuschagne (185) emerged as the top run-scorers for their side in 1st Test. It also helped the hosts to register an emphatic win over Pakistan by a margin of an innings and 5 runs.
