Kuldeep has been ruled out of South Africa T20Is due to an injury.
Kuldeep Yadav was all set to make his presence felt in the ongoing home T20I series against South Africa after an impressive outing in IPL 2022, but he was ruled out of the five-match series after being struck on his right hand while batting in the nets ahead of the opening game in Delhi.
The wrist-spinner has now come forward and expressed his disappointment. Nonetheless, the UP cricketer has vowed to come back stronger and at the same time is also hopeful that his Indian teammates will showcase outstanding performances in this series.
Disappointed to miss out on the SA series: Kuldeep Yadav
Taking to his official Instagram handle, Kuldeep wrote, “Disappointed to miss out on the SA series due to an injury, but I am sure the boys will give their best on the pitch, and I am backing them all the way. Looking forward to coming back stronger.”
Apart from Yadav, India’s stand-in-captain KL Rahul was also ruled out of the ongoing series due to a groin injury. As a result, Rishabh Pant has been handed the captaincy responsibilities.
Coming back to Kuldeep, he has been sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for rehabilitation and as of now, there is no clarity over his return. The left-arm spinner would be hoping to make a complete recovery to make himself available for selection for next month’s away series against England.
The Kanpur cricketer had a very memorable IPL 2022 where he took 21 wickets from 14 matches at an economy rate of 8.44 with his best figures being 4/14. In fact, he registered two four-wicket hauls this season representing the Delhi Capitals. Meanwhile, India eye a mammoth total in the first T20I at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi after being asked to bat by South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma.
