Domestic dynamos who couldn’t make it big in International cricket: A solid foundation from the grass root level will take you to the biggest stage. The importance of domestic cricket is second to none. From the cover drives to inswinging yorkers, from Mumbai to Melbourne, we all have witnessed the prolonged beauty of domestic cricket. Score runs, take wickets and earn your national cap. Back to reality, it is certainly not a walk in the park. There have been cases where tons of runs have been scored, wickets were grabbed in numbers, yet the national call up eluded them.

1. Wasim Jaffer (India):

His arrival at the domestic scenario has been historic. Wasim Jaffer marked his second game with a triple century on a difficult turf and did not look back from thereon. The highest run-getter in the Ranji Trophy tournament has represented India on 31 occasions in Test cricket, notching up 1944 runs with a best of 212 against West Indies in the Caribbean.

His international career was cut short due to poor form and injuries, but that did not stop Jaffer from scaling heights at the domestic circuit. He has played a vital part in Mumbai’s Ranji domination over the years. With 19,410 runs at an average of 50.67, along with 57 centuries in First class cricket, Wasim is clearly a legend in his own ways.
