Duminy, Russell of Islamabad United ready to travel Pakistan
The Islamabad United have some big names on the roster this year.
The head coach of Islamabad United franchise of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Dean Jones, has recently quoted that some of the foreign players of his side are willing to travel to Pakistan, if they reach the finals of the tournament. Last season, the finals of the PSL was held in Lahore. Peshawar Zalmi had defeated Quetta Gladiators in the finals of the tournament.
While the overseas players of the Zalmis opted to play in the finals, the big names of the Gladiators had opted out of the match. Hence, a second string side of overseas players was named for the match. This time around, the PSL working committee are keen on hosting the PSL finals in Karachi for PSL 2018. Interestingly, some of the players have already started conceding that they will tour Pakistan if need be. This can be attributed to the recent success of the Lahore T20I between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
As per the quotes in Brecorder, Dean Jones has confirmed that the overseas players of his team will tour Pakistan if they manage to reach the finals. This comes as a big statement ahead of the tournament which is played in February every year. He confirmed the same in a press conference that was held recently.
“All foreign players have shown their willingness to tour Pakistan in the PSL drafting,” said Jones, during the Islamabad United press conference.
