Dhaka Dynamites emerged as the winners of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) last season, and one man who played a pivotal role in their title win was West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. This year, however, he has shifted his base and will be seen playing for the Comilla Victorians instead. The Dynamites beat Rajshahi Kings by 56 runs to become the champions of the 2016 edition of the league.

Bravo’s experience of playing domestic T20 tournaments around the world makes him an important asset to any team. At the international front, the 33-year-old has played 59 T20I innings, in which he has scored 1142 runs and taken 52 wickets. The Trinidadian brings a lot to the table both as a batter and a seamer. He was also the ODI captain of the West Indies from 2013-2014. Bravo has often had to face issues with his board, which argues that the all-rounder prioritizes Indian Premier League (IPL) over international assignments.

It is also reported that Bravo will not play the entire tournament with the Victorians. He will play if only the team makes it to the playoffs stage. Also, the newly formed franchise Surma Sixers Sylhet have signed England all-rounder Liam Dawson for the upcoming season. The 27-year-old has played four international T20s in which he has taken four wickets.

Fifth edition, and 8 teams

The fifth edition of the BPL will kick off on 2nd of November and a total of 60 matches will be played. This is the fifth edition of the tournament. The opening game will be played at Dhaka, the home ground of the defending champions. The complete player draft will be held on September 16, and the opening ceremony will be held on October 31. An eliminator and two qualifiers will decide the two finalists, similar to the format followed in the IPL.

An eliminator and two qualifiers will decide the two finalists, similar to the format followed in the IPL. Unlike seven teams last year, eight teams will participate this season.
