England vs India Weather Forecast for Day 1, 2nd Test: London Weather on August 12

England are India are gearing up to take on each other in the second Test of the five-match series. The encounter gets underway on Thursday (August 12) at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London. With the game taking place at the Mecca of Cricket, both teams must leave no stones unturned to emerge winners. Not to forget, the opening clash resulted in a draw which effectively makes this series a four-match affair.

As far as the happenings of the first match are concerned, England skipper Joe Root won the toss at the Trent Bridge, electing to bat first. The decision didn’t prove to be fruitful by any means England lost wickets at regular intervals. Except for Joe Root, no English batter got going against India’s four-man pace attack. As a result, the home team got bundled out for mere 183 runs.

While Root scored 64 runs, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers, scalping four wickets. India, in reply, got off to a brilliant start with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul adding 97 runs for the first wicket. A middle-order collapse brought the home team back in the hunt. However, a half-century from Ravindra Jadeja and crucial contributions from the lower order bolstered India’s total to 278 runs, earning a 95-run lead.

While Ollie Robinson registered a five-wicket haul, veteran paceman James Anderson got four wickets. England’s second innings saw Joe Root putting up a batting exhibition. Despite losing partners at another end, the talismanic batter scored a marvelous hundred. Riding on his prowess, England posted a total of 303 runs, giving India a target of 209 runs.

The visitors got off to a brilliant start again with Rohit and Rahul tackling the new ball with precision. Rahul’s departure brought Pujara in the middle and the veteran looked in good touch as well. As a result, India were 52/1 at stumps on Day 4. They needed 157 runs on the final day with nine wickets in hand. However, rain played a spoilsport, and the game ended in a draw. Now, the action moves towards Lord’s.

Rain and Test matches in England are two parts of the same coin. As mentioned above, the opening clash also got washed out due to the intervention of the weather gods. Fortunately, rain is not likely to play a part on Day 1 of the Lord’s Test. As per accuweather.com, it will be sunny in Nottingham on Thursday and a significant amount of action can be witnessed. Although there will be clouds, the probability of rain isn’t high.
