Worcestershire will lock horns with Leicestershire in a league match of the Vitality Blast 2023 at the County Ground in Worcester on May 29. Worcestershire have played two matches where they have won both and are fourth in the rankings of North Group. Leicestershire, on the other hand, have played two matches which they have lost and are languishing at the bottom of the table.
Worcestershire had played against Yorkshire in their last match where the toss was won by Yorkshire and they chose to bat. Yorkshire had a horrible start as they had lost both their openers on a score of 10. However, their middle order came to their rescue and scored the bulk of runs where no individual player made a huge score but every player contributed something. They lost nine wickets but were able to post a total of 175 runs at the end of the first innings. Similar to their counterparts, Worcestershire did not have a good start as well where they lost two wickets on the score of eight. Repeating the story, the middle order saved the match then and it had got extremely interesting in the end. Worcestershire finally won the match by two wickets on the penultimate ball of the match.
Leicestershire squared off against Warwickshire in their last encounter where Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bat. Choosing to bat they tried to make the most of it and were quite successful in doing so. They had a good opening partnership of 49 runs in just five overs. They lost a couple of more wickets regularly but runs were scored decently as well. At the end of the first innings, they posted a total of 166 runs at the loss of seven wickets. Warwickshire, on the other hand, did not start too well as they had lost two wickets within three overs. But a solid third wicket partnership between Sam Hain and Glenn Maxwell, did not just pull them back on track but put them in driving position as well. Warwickshire won the match by five wickets with more than 15 balls to spare.
