Five Emerging Indian talents so far in IPL 10

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been the place for the franchises to unleash the potential of their grass root talents. The franchises either buy these players at the base price or acquire their services through a selection process, like the one that N.Jagdeesan, Washington Sundar or Vishnu Vinod went through where they had to give a trial.

It is often not easy for these players to get an opportunity in the side that consists of so many big names. But when given the opportunity, it is for them to convert their crucial starts into an inning which would cement their position in the team. Numerous players have emerged into the national side following their IPL heroics, with Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah being the latest two examples.

The current IPL too, like its predecessors has left the door open for the young talents to grab and hold on to their place. There have been five players who have caught the attentions of the viewers thus far in the Tournament. The list features three batsmen, a wicket-keeper and an all-rounder.

Here we have a look at 5 promising prospects of this edition of the tournament:

1) Manan Vohra- Kings XI Punjab (Batsman)

The opening batsman from Chandigarh is the only Indian player who was retained by the Kings XI Punjab at the 2015 auction. The trust and faith that the management had put on him have reaped its benefit. The batsman got off to a blinder on the same deck where the likes of the aggressive Aussie opener David Warner and the middle-order batsman Glenn Maxwell failed. The pitch was a tad different from the one Sunrisers played their previous fixture.

Warner and co were confident enough that they could defend 160 on the deck where it was tough for the batsmen to get settled. Chasing 160 against the bowling attack that boasted Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan was always a daunting task, be it any team on the given day. The opening batsman scored 95 crucial runs in just 50 balls in the same innings where Maxwell, Amla and Miller combined to score 11 runs.

Vohra’s Stupendous innings, however, came short of the Sunrisers’ total of 160 runs resulting in a five-run loss for the Kings. With a total of 174 runs at an average of 34.80 in this year’s tournament, it would be a colossal mistake for the selectors to miss out on the talent. The dictionary would the last place you would want to check to describe the innings from Vohra.
