Former Indian cricketer terms Dinesh Karthik's comeback as 'unbelievable'

Dinesh Karthik has been hogging all the limelight ever since he won India the Nidahas Trophy with a scintillating 8-ball knock in the final. The situation was hopeless for the Men in Blue when he came to bat but changed the course of the game in no time and the last ball six will not be forgotten for a long time. The former Indian cricketer Kiran More is ecstatic the way Karthik has made his comeback at the highest level and has showered praises on him for the way he has kept himself upbeat during the tough times.

Karthik is currently leading Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) and plying his trade at the helm as well. Karthik was the part of India’s inaugural World T20 triumph in South Africa way back in 2007 but faded away slowly from the international arena. But he has been around since 2013 when the team won Champions Trophy and now has become a regular in the side in the limited overs format. He could be India’s next finisher in the format after MS Dhoni post-2019 World Cup.

Kiran More lavished special words on Dinesh Karthik while he was speaking at the Legends Club meeting at the CCI to mark the birth anniversary of legendary all-rounder Vinoo Mankad. He had given up in between, because Dhoni was a sure shot to play all forms of the game, and the life of a wicketkeeper is not easy. The poor guy (Karthik) must have gone through mentally. But the way he has made a comeback, it is unbelievable. I am very happy for him. He had waited for a long (to shine). The talent was always there,” he said.

Though More believed that Karthik could’ve achieved a lot more in his career than what he has currently. “Dinesh was outstanding cricketer, wicket-keeper; what he has achieved (in his career), he could have achieved more. Now he has started off, batting and keeping well,” the former Indian chief selector added.
