Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfaraz Nawaz admitted to hospital

Sarfraz Nawaz, the former Pakistan cricketer, was one of the greatest cricketers, the nation has ever seen. His international career spanned a whopping 15 years from March 1969 to November 1984. Even after several years following his retirement, his legacy remains and many budding and current cricketers look up to the retired all-rounder for inspiration.
For the player though, the recent times haven’t been great by any stretch of the imagination. In a recent development, it has been learned that the 70-year-old has been admitted to a hospital in London owing to a heart problem. Mirza Iqbal Baig, a renowned Pakistani sports journalist, posted a picture of the legendary Nawaz being admitted to the hospital.
Sarfraz’s glorious cricketing career
In his illustrious career, Nawaz played 55 Tests and 45 ODIs in which he picked up 177 and 63 wickets respectively. His best bowling figures of 9/86 came against Australia at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). In One Day Cricket, Sarfraz churned out his best figures of 4/46 against New Zealand in Christchurch back in February 1973.
He also boasted off 14 four-wicket hauls and four five-wicket hauls in the format. He also scored 1045 and 221 runs in the formats respectively, which shows that he was a force to reckon with even with the willow in hand. Nawaz has four half-centuries to his name in Test cricket. Even in the domestic circuit, he was stupendous, having scored over 7,000 runs and picking up over 1,300 wickets.
He made his international debut against England in Karachi back in March 1969. Four years later, the Lahore-born cricketer made his debut against New Zealand in Christchurch. Nawaz didn’t look back and kept churning out match-winning performances. His last international appearance was against the Black Caps in Peshawar. After his retirement, he became a commentator and later joined politics.
