India skipper Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma, on Thursday, revealed that they are expecting their first child in January next year. The congratulatory messages flooded in for the couple of social media from the fans and the current and former cricketers. Kohli and Anushka posted a picture together as well confirming the news even as the former is currently in the UAE ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

After the T20 extravaganza, the Indian team is expected to fly out to Australia without coming back home. Australia tour comprises of three T20Is, as many ODIs and four Tests. According to the schedule released earlier, the T20I series is set to commence on October 11. However, with the IPL set to be played till November 10, the Cricket Australia (CA) is likely to chalk out the new schedule soon.

Also, there are reports that team India will play the limited-overs series first and then will face the home team in the four-match Test series.

Will Virat Kohli miss a part of Australia tour?

With Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma‘s first baby set to arrive in January 2021, Fox Sports stated that CA might now will be worried about the former’s availability for the tour. “Australian cricket will be ‘holding their breath’ as the availability of Kohli for the tour already coming under question. The tour itself starts in what is set to the third trimester,” the report read.

India will be definitely in the middle of their Australia tour when Virat Kohli and his wife will welcome their first child. While the revised schedule is yet to come out, it remains to be seen if the Indian skipper will leave the tour half way or miss a part of it to be with Anushka during the birth of the child.

Former India skipper MS Dhoni had missed Ziva’s birth during the World Cup in 2015 and had said, “As of now I am on national duties so I think everything else can wait. The World Cup is a very important campaign.” All eyes will definitely be on Virat Kohli in this regard now.

Meanwhile, Fox Sports has been facing the heat for its report on the Indian skipper likely missing the Australia tour. If it happens, it will definitely hamper the revenues of Australian cricket’s summer which will most probably played behind closed doors.
