Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Rashid Latif seemed unimpressed with the rule in the game of cricket that allows a free hit to the batsman in case the bowler oversteps his mark and delivers a no-ball. There have been many instances when the batters have made maximum use of a free hit by smashing boundary or maximum.

A free hit can completely change the course of a game as the batsman can play the ball freely without any fear of losing the wicket. In a free hit, the only way the batsman will have to march back to the pavilion is if he gets run out. Thus, it is a massive advantage for the batting side.

However, Rashid Latif slammed the free hit rule saying that it is the worst cricketing rule ever and opens a huge window of corruption and other unethical factors in the game. The 52-year-old took to his official Twitter handle to give his opinion and also tagged the International Cricket Council along with the official Twitter handles of the Indian Premier League, Pakistan Super League, and Big Bash League.

“Free hit on No ball, worst ever rule/ Law in cricket. The huge window for individual ( corruption) act, but effect all team  @ICC @ICCLive @IPL #BCCI @Steve_Rich100 @thePSLt20 @BBL” the former wicketkeeper-batsman tweeted.

Rashid Latif praises AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell

In the 10th match of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Royal Challengers Bangalore were up against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Batting first, the Bangalore outfit launched an assault on the opposition bowlers as they posted a mammoth total of 204 runs on the board in their 20 overs.

It rained boundaries and maximums at the MA Chidambaram Stadium as the power-hitting duo of AB de Villiers and Glenn Maxwell smashed 76 and 78 runs respectively. Rashid Latif also seemed impressed with the heroics of the two hard-hitters as he took to his official Twitter handle to lavish praises on the duo. “AB with Max #RCBvKKR different level …” Rashid tweeted.

Coming to the clash between KKR and RCB, the Virat Kohli-led side registered a comfortable 38-run victory as KKR batsmen failed to put up an impressive show with the willow.
