'Frustration at its peak' - Fans bash Alyssa Healy for criticising Indian players on complaining about bio-bubble in Brisbane
The words of criticism by the women player created a furor on social media as the Indian fans advised her to have some empathy with the players who are living the bio-bubble since August 2020 due to IPL 2020 and then the Australia tour.
Australia women’s cricketer Alyssa Healy created an uproar on Twitter by taking a sly dig at the Indian Men’s Cricket team for complaining about the harsh quarantine rules in Brisbane. The Indian cricket team traveled to Brisbane from Sydney to participate in the last Test of the four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, starting from January 15 at The Gabba.
However, the Men in Blue were unhappy about the hospitality in the hotel in Brisbane as they were confined to their hotel rooms and weren’t allowed to step out from their rooms to meet at some common points. Also, the team was denied basic room service and they themselves had to clean their rooms and washrooms. The team wasn’t provided with the facilities and amenities promised to them by Cricket Australia.
“We are locked up in our rooms, have to make our own beds, clean our own toilets. Food is coming from a nearby Indian restaurant which will be given to us on our floor. We can’t move out of the floor that’s been designated to us. The entire hotel is empty, but we can’t use any amenities in the hotel including the swimming pool and the gym. All the cafes and restaurants in the hotel are shut,” the Indian contingent had said about the condition as quoted by Times of India.
Alyssa Healy slams Indian cricket team
The matter was later resolved as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had a chat with CA and the latter made sure that Team India is being treated well in Brisbane. However, the complaints made by the visiting nation didn’t go well with Alyssa Healy as she took to her Twitter handle to slam the Men in Blue.
“The Aus and NZ women’s teams did their quarantine in the same hotel last year. Here’s a shock – we survived,” Alyssa tweeted.
The words of criticism by the women player created a furor on social media as the Indian fans advised her to have some empathy with the players who are living the bio-bubble since August 2020 due to IPL 2020 and then the Australia tour. Some fans also quoted the statements made by Alyssa’s husband and Australia’s pacer Mitchell Starc on how living in a biosecure bubble is one of the toughest jobs mentally.
