'GOAT of all actions' - Bowler's hilarious action in local game grabs attention
Michael Vaughan reacted as the hilarious scene from the Bollywood movie Lagaan turned up in real life.
There are many cricketers who catch viewers’ attention immediately because of the unorthodox bowling action that they possess. Players like Lasith Malinga, Paul Adams, and now even Sri Lanka‘s Matheesha Pathirana whose bowling action resembles that of Malinga, have a unique technique.
When it is being talked about the reel life, keeping the real-life aside, there was one moment that many Bollywood fanatics and cricket fans would remember. The Bollywood movie Lagaan starring Aamir Khan was based on cricket, where the villagers decide to form a cricket team to fight against the Britishers.
Of all the actors who portrayed various roles in the film, there was one character named ‘Goli’ who had a hilarious and unique bowling action. His action, though funny, had helped the villagers to class out the British batters in the movie. In a video that has gone viral on the internet, something similar has been witnessed in real-life. It may look funny, but it looked as if the bowler was impressed by ‘Goli’s’ bowling action as he repeated the heroics. The bowler rotated his arm throughout the run-up before releasing the ball.
A Twitter user shared a video captioning it: “Step aside Bumrah, Malinga & Pathirana. Here comes the of all bowling actions!!!” As it went viral, it was retweeted by freelance commentator Charles Dagnall through whom it caught former English skipper Michael Vaughan’s attention as he shared it further captioning it “Proper action”.
Matheesha Pathirana and Maya Sonawane were recently seen possessing a unique bowling action
Recently during the Indian Premier League 2022, Chennai Super King’s Matheesha Pathirana grabbed eyeballs with his different bowling style, one that resembles his country’s veteran pacer Lasith Malinga. During the fourth edition of the Women’s T20 Challenge, Velocity’s Maya Sonawane took the internet by storm with her unorthodox bowling action that resembled Paul Adams.
Speaking of Malinga, the veteran has joined the Sri Lankan squad as their bowling coach ahead of the team’s series against Australia. Amid the financial and economic crisis in the country, Sri Lanka is all set to host the Australians for a three-match T20I series, followed by a five-match ODI series and two Tests.
