'Great day on the cricket pitch' - PM Narendra Modi showers praise on India after their win over England in the 4th Test
Narendra Modi tweeted that it was a great day for India, both on the cricket field as well as on the vaccination front as well.
The Indian cricket team showed tremendous fighting spirit and steely resolve to beat the England side by a margin of 157 runs in the 4th Test match to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
After the first innings, the Indian side had its back against the wall. England was leading by 99 runs, and India needed to produce an excellent performance to even have a chance of giving a fight to England.
And, that is when Rohit Sharma stepped up for the Virat Kohli-led side with the willow. The ‘Hitman’ scored a masterly 127 off 256 deliveries at the top of the order and helped India post a total of 466 runs in their second innings. And, the Indian bowlers did the rest for the Virat Kohli-led side.
Chasing a target of 368 for victory, the England side was rendered clueless by the Indian bowlers. Umesh Yadav led the Indian charge with the ball, picking up 3 wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shardul Thakur scalped 2 wickets apiece, as England was bowled out for 210 runs in the second innings.

And, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian side for their stupendous performance against the Joe Root-led outfit. Modi tweeted that it was a great day for India, both on the cricket field as well as on the vaccination front as well.
“Great day (again) on the vaccination front and on the cricket pitch. As always, Team India wins,” tweeted Narendra Modi.

India has now taken an unassailable 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series against the England side. And, if Virat Kohli and his boys ensure that they do not lose the final Test match, then they will emerge victorious in the series.
The 5th and final rubber of the series will commence on 10th September 2021. The venue for the final Test match is the Old Trafford Stadium in Manchester.
