Twitter Reactions: Virat Kohli turns 36, social media floods with heartwarming messages
The batting stalwart was born on November 5, 1988.
November 5 might not hold a lot of significance like some other days throughout the calendar year. However, it holds an immense amount of relevance to the cricketing fraternity. Ace Indian batter, Virat Kohli, was born on this day. Today marks the legend's 36th birthday, as he continues to grace the game with the same passion and hunger as he did when he first burst onto the scene.
Be it for Delhi, India or the Royal Challengers Bengaluru among others, Kohli has consistently been at the top of his game and has strived and advocated for excellence in all domains - whether as an individual or a captain. His enthusiasm and passion for the game might come across as arrogance, but it is certainly anything but that. Over the years, as Kohli has matured as a person and a player, there has been a barrage of records that he has cemented in his name.
Truly an all-format player who has the elegance to adapt to any sort of conditions, Kohli is highly renowned for his masterful expertise in ODIs. From currently being at the top of the chart of the most hundreds scored by batters in the 50-over format (50) to being the fastest batter to achieve 13,000 runs (267 innings) to scoring the most runs in a series (765 runs), these are only some of the plethora of milestones under his belt.
As the Indian captain, one of Kohli's most remarkable achievements has been the track record he has managed to amass with the side. Apart from being the face of Indian cricket for a long time, he has been one of the largest ambassadors in the longest format. Under Kohli's captaincy, the Indian Test team have managed to emerge successful in 40 out of 68 matches, losing only 17. He possesses the highest win percentage out of every Indian captain to have led the side for a minimum of 10 matches (58.82%).
Kohli has always assumed the leadership of the Indian team with extreme onus. His numbers as a captain of India across formats suggest the same. A colossal 12,883 runs have been scored by the legend at an impressive average of 59.92. The batting maestro has amassed 27,134 runs overall and would be gunning to achieve more and contribute holistically to the team. His stint with RCB as a captain was a successful one as well, making the franchise reach one final (in the 2016 edition in which he racked up 973 runs) and multiple playoffs from 2013 to 2021.
