'Happy to inform you all that I have tested negative' - Harmanpreet Kaur after recovering from COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has been on a rampage in the world. Having stayed around for over a year in India, the nation is still fighting hard against it but nothing is yet stable. Ever since the arrival, a number of sportspersons have fallen ill to it.

The Indian T20I team’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, was no different as she had tested positive for COVID-19 on March 30. Following that she was in self-isolation at home as she continued to experience mild symptoms.

Although, in a happy bit of news, she confirmed on Friday that she has finally recovered and urged everyone to take situation seriously and follow all the necessary protocols. The 32-year-old took to Twitter to share the news and inform on social media on April 16 that she has tested negative.

“Happy to inform you all that I have tested -ve & I’m feeling better. My only message to y’all is to take care & be extra careful. The virus is real & it’s dangerous. Follow all the protocols set up by the authorities. Wishing strength to the ones who are in the middle of the fight,” read the Tweet.

India to face England in June

The Indian skipper might have contracted the virus only after the ODI series between India and South Africa women last month, as she was under regular supervision and was tested continuously during the five-match series in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. She was unable to take part in the three-match T20I series due to an injury that she picked during the final ODI on March 17, 2021.

Before being injured, she was in brilliant form during the ODI series as the middle-order batter hit a half-century and a 40-plus score. However, India could not manage to avoid losses and went onto lose both the T20I and the ODI series to South Africa women. The only victory for the Women in Blue came in the last T20I of the series.

The team’s next international assignment is against England in June, 2021 as they will play a lone Test in Bristol from June 16 before locking horns in a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. The Test match will be India’s first since 2014.
