Hardik Pandya has ‘270-degree hitting range’, feels Michael Vaughan
Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently praised the MI all-rounder for his ability to hit big and across a wide range
It was not long ago that Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Hardik Pandya was witnessing a serious low in his career. First, he was out from the game for a few months because of injury and then it was uncalled for television controversy that landed him in trouble. The man finally got to play consistent cricket once the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 took off in March and after an initial lull, the 25-year-old has shown the form that will make the Indian team management excited ahead of the upcoming ICC World Cup.
Hardik so far has scored 218 runs in nine games which is not too many but what has made him really effective this season is his big-hitting down the order. Hardik has a strike rate of 194 plus in the nine games he has played which is by far his highest in all the seasons he has played so far.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan recently praised the MI all-rounder for his ability to hit big and across a wide range, saying he has a “270-degree hitting range” which makes him a dangerous batsman. Vaughan said this while speaking to commentator Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz Live which also featured former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja.
Hardik Pandya is playing a few balls this IPL but producing maximum effect
Hardik bludgeoned quite a few knocks in this edition at a strike rate of even 250 plus and turned games in whatever few balls he has faced down the order. He hit two 37 not outs against Royal Challengers Bangalore off 16 and 14 balls, respectively, besides one 11-ball 28 not out against Rajasthan Royals, eight-ball 23 not out against Chennai Super Kings and 19-ball 31 against Kings XI Punjab. On Thursday, too, Hardik scored 32 off 15 balls to take his side to a match-winning 168 for 5 in 20 0vers.
Hardik Pandya will be one of India’s trump cards in the upcoming World Cup for both his batting and bowling abilities.
