Hardik Pandya-KL Rahul's future in dark as CoA members crossfire over investigation process

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul saga has taken another turn as their inquiry got delayed with the two-member Committee of Administrators’ (CoA) different approach towards the controversy. They were suspended from playing in the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia as well as from the New Zealand tour.

The duo has reached home for the inquiry on their controversial comments in the TV show, named Koffee with Karan. However, the things got worse as the CoA members couldn’t find a particular way to the inquiry.

As per the reports in CricketNext, CoA Chief Vinod Rai wants to appoint an ad hoc ombudsman for the inquiry as per BCCI‘s legal advisor, but co-member Diana Edulji wanted a permanent member to handle the matter, as per the new constitution. After the difference in opinion regarding the appointment of women’s team head coach, once again their rift has come into limelight which has left both the cricketers’ future in question.

Edulji has recently sent the mail to chairman Vinod Rai where she stated that let the court appoint a member who could look into the matter instead of taking a wrong step by taking the things in their hand. “The Supreme Court hearing is scheduled for 17th Jan, let the court be informed about this situation and let an Ombudsman be appointed by the court instead of taking a wrong step of appointing the ad hoc ombudsman, which is not as per the new constitution,” the email read.

Rai leaves it to Edulji

However, Vinod Rai favoured the quick investigation. He wanted BCCI CEO Rahul Johri to look into the matter and finish it prior to the second ODI between India and Australia. On the other hand, Edulji favoured the CoA as well as BCCI officials such as president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary and treasurer Anirudh Choudhary in place of Johri; where Rai replied that he will leave the matter on Edulji as she didn’t want to follow the legal suggestion.

“Please note that since you do not want to follow the suggestion of legal to have an ‘ad hoc ombudsman’, your suggestion runs the risk of your committee being ‘judge, jury and executioner’. Please go ahead and take it forward. I will keep away and leave it to you,” Rai’s reply to Edulji read, which is available with CricketNext.
