Top 10 Highest individual scores by a wicketkeeper in ODIs
2. Adam Gilchrist – 172 v Zimbabwe:
Adam Gilchrist is the only wicketkeeper in the history of ODI cricket who has touched the 150-run mark twice in his career and missed out on another opportunity as he was dismissed on 149. Gilchrist struck 154 against Sri Lanka at Melbourne in 1999. He bettered his score against Zimbabwe at Hobart in 2004. Gilly, who hit 13 fours and 3 sixes in his innings of 172 of 126 balls, murdered almost anything that came his way. The hapless Zimbabweans had no answer to the Demolition Man’s onslaught. He was dismissed on 172 by Sean Ervine. Australia posted a mammoth 344 and won the match by 148 runs as Zimbabwe could manage just 196/6 in their 50 overs. Gilly had another opportunity during the final of ICC World Cup 2007, when he scored 149 off 104 balls taking the game and the World Cup away from the Sri Lankans.
