Hyderabad Police arrests a ranji cricketer for trying to dupe a Pharmaceuticals company
Hyderabad Police revealed that the former player had made a call to a Hyderabad-based Drugs and Pharmaceuticals company and tried to scare them by introducing himself as the assistant of the IT minister.
Former Ranji Trophy cricketer of Andhra Pradesh Badumuru Nagaraju has been arrested by the Taskforce sleuths for trying to dupe a businessman by impersonating as a personal assistant (PA) of IT minister KT Rama Rao. The local police on Monday, November 16 revealed the details about how the ex-cricketer tried to trap a wealthy businessman.
This was not the first time that such serious allegations were made on B Nagaraju. Before getting involved in this extortion crime, the 25-year-old, hailing from the Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh has been arrested by the Taskforce in various cases in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In 2019, he had impersonated the former Indian chief selector MSK Prasad to similarly extort money.
Giving the details to the crime, the Hyderabad Police revealed that the former player had made a call to a Hyderabad-based Drugs and Pharmaceuticals company and tried to scare them by introducing himself as the assistant of the IT minister.
The cricketer holds a Guinness World Record
Police further stated that Nagaraju informed that the Pollution Control Board will be issuing a notice which will have an adverse effect on their company and further told that he can help the company from getting closed or facing losses if they pay him a staggering amount of INR 15 lakh.
“He informed the management that the state pollution control board is issuing a closure notice to their factory, but later offered to resolve the issue by demanding Rs 15 lakh,” police said as quoted by the Times of India
The Hyderabad Police reckoned that they had laid a trap after the company filed a complaint against the former cricketer. On Monday, the Taskforce executed its plan and nabbed the accused cricketer in Jubilee Hills. Also, the police seized a mobile phone from the accused.
It is also reported that the accused cricket player has a world record to his name. He had played 82 hours of non-stop cricket a few years back to register himself in the Guinness World Record.
