I am sure Virat Kohli will be able to break his century drought in England: Dilip Vengsarkar
Dilip Vengsarkar stated that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best willow wielders that the Indian side has got.
The Indian side is currently taking on the England outfit in a five-match Test series on England soil. And needless to say, the fortunes of the Indian side will depend on how batting talisman Virat Kohli fares with the willow in hand.
Former Indian batting legend Dilip Vengsarkar has opined that Virat Kohli will definitely break his century drought in the Tests against England. Adding that Kohli is a fabulous player, Vengsarkar stated that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are the best willow wielders that the Indian side has got.
However, Vengsarkar was quick to add that he would like all the other batsmen to contribute to the team’s cause as well.
“I’m sure he will be able to break his century drought, because at the end of the day, he is a fabulous player. He and Rohit are probably the best India has got and I hope they come into their own and score a lot of runs. But at the same time, I would like others also to chip in, that’s important, because we can’t only depend on just two batsmen. Others need to contribute as well,” said Vengsarkar as quoted by The Hindustan Times.
This is India’s best chance to win in England: Dilip Vengsarkar
Dilip Vengsarkar also stated that Rishabh Pant is a young player and cricketers will take time to acclimatize to foreign conditions. Stating that Pant cannot be blamed, the 65-year-old added that the BCCI should have organized more matches for the Indian side.
“He is a young player, and the fact that we did not play any games before the World Test Championship. You take time to acclimatize to the conditions. Not only Rishabh Pant, but any cricketer for that matter. I can’t blame anybody to be honest. The only thing is that the BCCI should have organised these games for them,” said Vengsarkar.
The former batting legend concluded by stating that India has a very good chance to win a Test series in England this time around as the Virat Kohli-led side has a number of world-class bowlers in their arsenal.
“I agree with [Rahul] Dravid. India has a very good chance because this is the first-time, we are travelling to England with such world-class bowlers. Guys like Shami, Bumrah, Siraj and Ishant are top class. I think this indeed is India’s best chance,” concluded Vengsarkar.
