I applaud Sarfraz Ahmed for reporting the spot-fixing approach immediately: Imran Khan
Imran Khan was extremely proud of the Pakistan captain for what he did after he was approached by the bookies.
A Pakistan player recently reported a match-fixing approach. The player name was not revealed at first but it is now known that it was the Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed who reported the approach made by a bookie. He has now set an example for all the youngsters in the Pakistan team and made sure there will be no new Mohammad Amir’s.
Sarfraz was approached for spot-fixing and as soon as he was approached he rejected the offer and reported it to the Pakistan Cricket Board. Former Pakistan skipper and a world cup winner, Imran Khan was extremely proud of the Pakistan captain for what he did. He said that whatever he did sets an example and a trend for the all the cricketers not only in Pakistan but all over the world. He also talked about exposing the bookies. Khan was all praise for Sarfraz as he won many hearts by his act.
Expose and they will be scared – Imran Khan
Imran was straightforward with his words. At first, he had some nice words for Sarfraz for his actions but then told the bitter truth about spot-fixing. He lauded the Pakistan captain for what he did and also said that spot-fixing is hard to catch. You never know who bowls a no-ball deliberately and it becomes almost impossible to catch the culprit.
“I applaud Sarfraz Ahmed for reporting the spot-fixing approach immediately. He is setting a good trend in this regard but the problem with spot-fixing is that it’s very difficult to catch culprits. With match-fixing it’s obvious for those who understand cricket but you never know when a person deliberately bowls a no-ball,” Khan said while talking to PakPassion.
Khan touched the 2010 sting operation and said it is operations like these which expose the culprit. He said that if you expose the bookies they will be scared and that will reduce the number of bookies.
“The 2010 spot-fixing sting operation in England was one of the ways to catch spot-fixers but in general it’s very difficult. The more you expose these people, the bookies, the more they will be scared,” Khan concluded.
