Racism has raised its ugly hood every now and then in sport. And, a Twitter handle by the name of Cricketologist heaped praises on former Indian spinner and current commentator Laxman Sivaramakrishnan for the way he describes the nuances of the game.

The handle further added that young spinners and coaches should listen to Sivaramakrishnan to know more about the technicalities of the game.

“For all the criticism they get about their comm people like Laxman Sivaramakrishnan sound so good when they r talking about spinners. The little nuances, finer aspects and technicalities of spin they talk r excellent points for any young spinner or coaches to listen,” read the tweet.

And now, Laxman Sivaramakrishnan has responded to this tweet. The former Indian spinner tweeted that he has been criticised and discriminated on the basis of colour all through his life. Adding that this kind of criticism does not bother him anymore, Sivaramakrishnan concluded by stating that this kind of discrimination happens a lot in India, which is a very unfortunate thing.

“I have been criticised and colour discriminated all my life, so it doesn’t bother me anymore. This unfortunately happens in our own country,” tweeted Laxman Sivaramakrishnan.

Laxman Sivaramakrishnan featured in 9 Tests and 16 ODIs for the Indian cricket team. While he scalped 26 wickets in the white flannels, the leg spinner prized out 15 willow wielders in the ODI format of the game. The current 55-year-old played his last international match for the Indian side in the year 1987.

After his retirement from the game, Sivaramakrishnan has transitioned to the commentary box and is one of the reputed commentators of the modern era.
