The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one such platform that brings together the biggest of rivalries, and the best of players. It witnesses brothers and friends going up against each other, and arch-rivals being grouped together to play. And IPL brings out the best in everyone. Speaking of the same, Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravichandran Ashwin named two players who he feels do not like getting out to from the Indian camp.

Ashwin has been an outstanding player at the IPL, throughout all seasons. He was released by Delhi Capitals (DC) and roped in by RR at the mega auction for IPL 2022. He also made his T20I comeback for India after four years as he was named in the squad for the World Cup 2021.

‘I enjoy the contest and look forward to it every year’, says Ashwin on facing Rohit and Virat

In his conversation with ESPNCricinfo, the off-spinner mentioned that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma don’t like it when they are dismissed by one of their Indian teammates and revealed that he loves bowling to the two terrific batters of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) respectively.

Rohit and Virat have scored 109 and 160 runs respectively, against Ashwin and got out to him twice and once respectively. “I love going head-on with Virat and Rohit, to be honest. I think they are two quality batters that have played with me inside the dressing room, not two batters that I’ve got repeated contests against at an international arena.

“But I get to go against them in the IPL format so I love going against them. They don’t like getting out to bowlers inside the team so I enjoy the contest and look forward to it every year,” Ashwin said.

Ashwin’s team- Rajasthan Royals will be locking horns against Rohit’s men in blue on April 2, 2022, where he’ll fulfill his dream partially if given the chance. Three days after that match, the RCB will go up against RR on April 5, where Ashwin will face Virat in opposition.
