28-year-old Mohammad Abbas made his Test debut in 2017. Since then, he has featured in 10 Tests and has picked up a whopping 54 wickets. In his short stint with the national team, he looked very promising. However, quite a few fear that he might fade away like many of the other promising quicks.

However, Abbas has other thoughts and said that he is not among the ones who will lose the limelight all of a sudden. Players like Mohammad Zahid, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, who had great starts to their careers and hogged all the attention have had terrible full-stops or commas to their careers.

Abbas says his focus is only to play cricket

The joint second-fastest Pakistani to 50 Test wickets said that he saw a lot of hardships in life. He added that his entire focus at the moment is only on cricket and his fitness.

“I have played first-class cricket and a lot of things have happened before my eyes. I suffered hardships in my life so my focus is on cricket and that has made me mature. My focus is only to play cricket and focus on my fitness. I want to keep my feet on the ground. That has been my life. Right or wrong I know where to go,” he was quoted as saying by ESPN Cricinfo.

Mohammad Abbas said that he moulds his game according to the conditions and the oppositions. He emphasises on the need to focus on an individual’s bowling irrespective of the pitches available and the conditions.

“There are different conditions, different pitches, whatever you get, you need to focus on your bowling. I mould myself according to that. I see who is the opponent and then focus on my bowling positions,” he said.

The pacer recently picked up a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the second Test against Australia.
