Australian batsman Will Pucovski suffered a blow to his head in a net session last week, and as a result, the right-handed batsman was concussed once again.

And, Australian skipper Tim Paine has stated that he was absolutely shattered when he learnt about Pucovski’s concussion. Adding that Pucovski has got plenty of support around him, Paine opined that there is no need to rush the 23-year-old Pucovski back in a hurry. Paine also revealed that he has spoken to Pucovski and the right-handed batsman is on the road to recovery.

“He’s still hoping to be ready at some stage this summer. He’s got plenty of support around him, and we know how good he is, so there’s no need to rush him at the moment. He’s 22-23 years of age, he’s got a lot of time in the game if we can get it right. Shattering when I found out. I’ve spoken to him a bit the last few days. He is improving slowly,” said Tim Paine to SEN Hobart.

I don’t think it is as bad as the others Will Pucovski has had before: Tim Paine

Tim Paine also added that the latest concussion suffered by Pucovski is not as bad as the others he has experienced before. Paine also admitted that he was devastated upon hearing about Pucovski’s concussion.

“I don’t think it’s as bad as some of the others he’s had before, but with his history we have to be very careful. I was devastated to hear it’s happened again,” said Tim Paine.

Cricket Victoria also released an official statement, stating that Pucovski is currently in consultation with the medical staff and is managing his recovery process. “Will is currently managing his recovery in consultation with CV‘s medical staff. He looks forward to returning to training as soon as he is able to do so,” read the statement released by Cricket Victoria.

Tim Paine also revealed that he has returned back to practice after his back injury. The Aussie skipper concluded by stating that he is moving normally and is feeling good to once again have the willow in his hand.

“I’m doing a bit of pilates, jogging and swimming. It was good to have bat back in hand. I’m moving pretty normally. I hit about 20 balls yesterday, albeit underarm. The only issue at this stage is strength in my left arm,” concluded Paine.
