ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019: Day 3, Group B – Match Prediction – Weather Report, Pitch Conditions, Playing XIs and Live Streaming Details
Can Jersey and Oman continue with their winning form?
Oman carried forward their good form from the warm-ups to their first game of the T20 World Cup qualifier against hosts United Arab Emirates (UAE). After restricting the home team to 108, Oman tracked the target down with 10 balls to spare, winning by seven wickets. Their next encounter is versus Aizaz Khan’s Hong Kong, who had a rough outing versus Ireland, losing by eight wickets.
In another game of Group B, Canada and Jersey will be locking horns. Like Oman, Jersey both their warm-ups versus Kenya and Singapore, who defeated Scotland in their opening contest. Canada, captained by batsman Navneet Dhaliwal, also beat the same set of opponents in the warm-ups and are in great form. Both sides are equally matched and a close-contest seems to be on the cards.
Pitch Report
Sheikh Zayed Stadium
On Day 1 at the same venue, the chasing teams won. It suggests that the track gets better with the progression of the match. The track has helped the spinners to a large extent, but run-making would be possible if the batters are ready to put their heads down. Hong Kong and Oman will play here.
Sheikh Zayed Stadium Nursery 1
The venue will host its first game of the tournament. In the morning games, the chasing teams have gotten the advantage, though at a different venue. Going by the overall numbers, scores under 150 will be a bit of a surprise. Spinner are expected to play a role. Canada and Jersey will play here.
Weather Report
The conditions will be bright and sunny throughout the day and there’s no chance of rain whatsoever. The conditions will be hot and it will take a lot out of the players. The temperature will be around the 35 degrees Celsius. The clouds will so stay away.
Match 11, Canada vs Jersey

Canada scored 191 and 165 in the warm-ups, suggesting their firepower in batting. Ravinderpal Singh and Nicholas Kirton scored fifties in the warmups and are in excellent touch. Thomas, Dhaliwal and Cheema can also smack the leather. Zafar and Siddiqui are the spinners and a lot will depend on them. Gordon and Heyliger are the pacers. Match 13, Hong Kong vs Oman
Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s bowling turned out to be a major area of concern as it leaked runs at nearly nine per over. Even the batting unit looked jittery. Only skipper Aizaz Khan could get a wicket and even that came at a stage when the fate of the game was pretty much known. The only positive was Kinchit Shah, whose 54-ball 79 helped the team post 153 on the board. He needs support from the others.
Probable XI
Nizakat Khan, Aizaz Khan (C), Kinchit Shah, Waqas Barkat, Haroon Arshad, Simandeep Singh, Scott McKenchie (wk), Shahid Wasif, Ehsan Khan, Kyle Christie, Nasrullah Rana
Oman
Oman depends a lot of Khawar Ali, who gives four overs apart from opening the batting. He failed in the last game, and it was a combined effort from the rest that got Oman over the line. On a slow strip, the likes of Aqib Ilyas and Aamir Kaleem showed composure. In bowling, the onus will be on Khan and Butt to get early wickets. The spin trio of Kaleem, Ali and Ilyas will have their task cut out.
Probable XI
Khawar Ali, Jatinder Singh, Aqib Ilyas, Aamir Kaleem, Zeeshan Maqsood (C), Suraj Kumar, Mohammad Nadeem, Sandeep Goud, Fayyaz Butt, Khurram Nawaz, Bilal Khan
