Former Pakistan captain and politician Imran Khan hinted at the prospect of marrying for the 3rd time and hoped that he would be third time lucky.

“I can’t give you the best advice about marriage because I don’t have a very good track record. Maybe third time lucky,” the former Pakistani great told guests at a family friend’s daughter’s wedding party in London.

The charismatic 64-year-old took to the stage to congratulate the newlyweds and while speaking on his marriage, Khan said he hopes to be “third time lucky”. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman revealed that the idea of marrying for the third time is “more open than before”.

In May 1995, Khan tied the knot with Jemima Goldsmith in a traditional ceremony in Paris. The pair separated in the year 2004 after it was rumoured that Jemima was finding very difficult to live in Pakistan despite both their best efforts.

In January 2015, Khan married for the 2nd time, this time to British-Pakistani journalist and television anchor Reham Khan in a simple “Nikah ceremony”. The marriage ended in a divorce 9 months later in October 2015. Joking about his previous marriages, Khan said he can’t give the couple the best advice given his past history in marriage but wished them all the best for their future.

Joking about himself, Khan said that he hoped that the newlyweds have much more successful marriage than his. Khan’s joke was received with cheers during his speech. It was earlier speculated that Imran had already married for the third time in a private ceremony that the allegations turned out to be false.

Khan has been an iconic figure in Pakistan and is the only Pakistan captain till date to lead Pakistan to World Cup glory in 1992. He was a respectable person in the cricketing fraternity and undoubtedly one of the greatest all-rounders during his playing days. The Final against England was Imran’s last match in his international career
