South Africa leg-spinner Imran Tahir might be 43, but he has shown that age is just a number in the ongoing The Hundred 2022 as he gave a tribute to football megastar Cristiano Ronaldo by carrying out his signature ‘Siuu’ celebration after picking up the prized wicket of England middle-order batter Dawid Malan during a match between the Birmingham Phoenix and Trent Rockets.

The ‘Siuu’  is Ronaldo’s trademark celebration. He celebrates in this manner after scoring a goal for Portugal during the international fixtures as well as Manchester United during the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League games. This celebration has been copied by various other sportspersons across the globe.

Imran Tahir celebrates in ‘CR7’ style after picking up a wicket

Birmingham Phoenix skipper Moeen Ali won the toss and decided to bowl first in Match 15, which was played at Edgbaston on Monday, August 15. Dawid Malan, who had opened the innings for Trent Rockets, looked to offer some resistance after losing his batting partner Alex Hales early.

However, that was not to be as he walked back for just nine runs against his name. The southpaw was completely outfoxed by Imran Tahir’s overpitched delivery. Malan failed to pick the googly that was bowled by the veteran leggie and attempted a big shot on the leg side. Unfortunately for him, the ball was mistimed, as a result of which it found Henry Brookes at mid-off instead of going the distance. Brookes completed an easy catch as Dawid Malan took a long walk back to the dugout.

An ecstatic Tahir’s joy knew no bounds as he celebrated his hard-earned wicket. For a change, it was not only his signature sprinting celebrations but doubled it up with Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Siuu’ celebrations.  The video was posted by The Hundred on their official Twitter handle. Take a look.

Imran Tahir finished with 1/26 as Trent Rockets were restricted to 145/6. Birmingham chased down the target by seven wickets with 14 balls to spare, courtesy of captain Moeen Ali’s 28-ball 52.
