India beat Nepal to enter semis of Blind Cricket World Cup

Just a few days after defeating arch-rivals Pakistan, a dominant India continued their winning spree beating Nepal by a massive 8 wickets in the fifth Blind Cricket World Cup played at the Eden Garden Cricket Ground in Ajman, the United Arab Emirates on Sunday. With the win, the Men in Blue have sealed their berth in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Electing to bat, Nepal could muster a measly 156 in 37.5 overs for the loss of nine wickets as India dished out fine all-round bowling and fielding effort. For India, Prakash Jayaramiah took two wickets conceding 22 runs while skipper Ajay Reddy, Rambir, Prem Kumar and Jafar Iqbal picked up a wicket each.

India, who have been a batting dominated side in the tournament then chased down the target with consummate ease by losing just two wickets. Man of the Match Ajay Gariya (B2) scored 54 of 29 balls and struck six fours. Mehender remained unbeaten on 40 off 30 deliveries while Rambir played an unconquered knock of 38 in 23 balls.

India will be playing neighbours Bangladesh in a high-octane semi-final clash on January 17 at the Ajman Ovals.

Pakistan come back strong after India defeat

After their loss to arch-rivals India on Friday, the Pakistanis came back to thrash Australia by 393 runs on Sunday. They went into the India match without five of their players who were not available for selection as they could not get their visas in time to travel to UAE for the match.

However, the Green shirts pulled up their socks to secure a scintillating victory over the Aussies. Aamir Ashfaq smashed 208 as Pakistan went on to score a record total of 563/4 in 40 overs.Among other scorers Sana made 143 and Haroon hit 105. In reply, the Aussies were dismissed for 170 runs. The World Cup hosts, playing in UAE against certain teams due to security concerns, had won the toss and elected to bat.
