16) Harshal Patel
Harshal Patel also broke into the T20I team, after claiming the Purple Cap in IPL 2021. He has 11 scalps to his name in eight T20I games at an average of 22.45. The Royal Challengers Bangalore pacer is also a frontrunner to be included in the playing XI for the T20I World Cup, hence he will be a part of the series against the Proteas.
Harshal is one of the tougher bowlers to come up against in the slog overs, given that his variations are difficult to catch. He picked up four wickets in two matches against New Zealand last year, and was the joint highest wicket-taker, with an average of just 12.75.
17) Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal has had a dream start to his IPL 2022 season. The wrist-spinner has picked up a hattrick, a five-wicket haul, and is nearing the 20-wicket mark. And we are just halfway into the season. The Rajasthan Royals spinner was left out of the squad for the T20 World Cup in UAE last year.
However, that should not be the case this time around, given that he has become a much more versatile bowler. The 31-year-old will be among the two pure spinners included in the squad for the T20I series against South Africa.
