India v South Africa 5th ODI, Mumbai: Toss and squads
India v South Africa 5th ODI, Mumbai: Toss and squads: The India v South Africa ODI series concludes today, the 5th ODI at Mumbai will decide which team takes the ODI series trophy. South Africa started on the winning note, but MS Dhoni’s team did really well to bounce back and level the series.
The first thing on the day went AB de Villiers and South Africa’s way as he won the toss and have opted to bat first. Dhoni said even he would have liked to bat first but has a plan for bowling as well. And pleasant memories greet him as they come out to play another final after the World Cup 2011 final at the Wankhede.
AB de Villiers said: “We are going to bat first. It’s a big game, it’s a final, so it will be nice to have runs on the board. Two changes, Elgar and Abbott are playing, Morris and Phangiso are missing out. It might be a bit of hard work for the first 10-15 overs.”
MS Dhoni said: “We would have batted as well. Heat is also a factor and also because of the fact that South Africa don’t like to chase. The wicket is slightly soft. We are playing the same side. The spinners get a bit of bounce here even if there is not much of turn, that’s a good thing. We will try and split the fielding sessions into small bits and win it.”
Leading into the match Indian opener Rohit Sharma said: “I’ve been keeping it very simple. I’ve been working on a few things. As a batsman you want to improve everytime. I’m focused on what I need to do. It’s nice that I’ve been able to contribute. It’s an important game for us, hopefully I will score some runs and help the team. It’s very hot, but we have to adjust to the conditions. We’ve had different conditions in all the venues we’ve played so far. It’s pretty hot and humid here, but the boys are up for it. This is my first ODI at home, it’s a special feeling. This is where I’ve played all my cricket.”
