India vs Australia: MS Dhoni's unparalled reflex-action gets Glenn Maxwell run out
The local hero of Ranchi once again proved his mettle when it comes to wicketkeeping skills.
Glenn Maxwell made the most out of his promotion to No.3 as he was on fire with his batting today, at Ranchi. Batting in the 3rd ODI against India, on Friday, he smashed spinner Ravindra Jadeja all around the park. Before him, Finch’s 93 and Khawaja’s hundred had put the visitors on top. Maxwell’s blistering innings was however brought to an end by the mastermind MS Dhoni along with Jadeja.
India’s chinaman and frontline spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged two important wickets in the 44th over sending back Peter Handscomb and the very able Shaun Marsh cheaply. But what unfolded in the 42nd over was more special as the in-form Glenn Maxwell was ran out by none other than the great MS Dhoni with the aid of India’s finest fielder Ravindra Jadeja.
India already have a 2-0 lead in ongoing the five-match series of which this game at Ranchi is the third ODI. A win in Dhoni’s hometown would mean a 3-0 unassailable lead in the 5-match series for India. The former Indian captain is expected to retire from international Cricket after the conclusion of the ICC World Cup later this year. Perhaps, this ODI could his the last match at his home ground.
In the previous game, MS Dhoni had pulled off another mastermind act as he was heard on the stump mic prompting the bowler to keep bowling in the same area in order to get the set batsman out. Kuldeep, the bowler, followed the master’s orders and delivered the next ball right in the middle of the pitch. Maxwell, the on-strike batsman, was dazzled by it and tried to execute the pull shot. Instead, the stumps were uprooted and Maxwell had to walk, surely, the presence of MS Dhoni is unlucky for Glenn Maxwell as he once again got the Aussie dismissed.
Dhoni’s run out to get Maxwell walking
Dhoni did it at one go that got Maxwell walking. The local hero of Ranchi once again proved his mettle when it comes to wicketkeeping skills. With Dhoni catching Maxwell short with a very quick flick on from the throw, India bagged a very important wicket, reducing Australia to 258/3.
