India vs New Zealand, 3rd T20I Stats Review: Rohit Sharma rewrites record books as India register whitewash
Rohit Sharma became the second batter after Martin Guptill to complete 150 sixes in T20 internationals.
After enduring a horrendous campaign in the T20 World Cup 2021, Team India is back at its best. The Men in Blue defeated New Zealand by 73 runs in the third and final match of the series, claiming a 3-0 whitewash. While the Kiwis looked pretty competitive in the previous two games, they got entirely outplayed in this clash.
Speaking of how the game panned out, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss yet again but unlike the previous two fixtures, he elected to bat first. India got off to a flying start with Rohit and Ishan Kishan adding 69 runs for the first wicket in no time. The Indian skipper also notched up a quick-fire fifty. The likes of Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Harshal Patel, and Deepak Chahar also made significant contributions with the bat as India posted 184/7.
New Zealand’s chase never looked on track as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Axar Patel was the wrecker-in-chief for India, taking three wickets in the powerplay overs. The visitors eventually got bundled out for 111 in 17.2 overs, losing the contest by 73 runs.
