India vs Windies, 2018: 1st Test, Day 3 – Statistical Highlights

All the major stats and numbers that were recorded during the third and final day of the Rajkot Test.

India completed another easy win at home over the Windies registering their biggest win at Rajkot by innings and 272 runs. Windies were bowled out for 181 in their first innings out of which 100 was scored by Roston Chase (53) and Keemo Paul (47). The visiting side came up with an aggressive approach in the second innings. Kieron Powell scored a 93-ball 83 with eight fours and four sixes but Kuldeep Yadav’s maiden five-wicket haul ensured that the Caribbean were bundled out for only 196.

All the major stats and numbers that were recorded during the third and final day of the Rajkot Test:

1 – Kuldeep Yadav became the first bowler to take a 5-wicket-haul in all the three international formats in a calendar year. He took a 5-fer in a T20I and a 6-fer in an ODI against England in July 2018. Overall, he is the 7th player and the 2nd Indian after Bhuvneshwar Kumar to claim a five-wicket haul in all the three international formats.


3 – For the third consecutive instance, India have defeated the Windies in a Test match at home by innings margin that too by wrapping up the game in only three days. They defeated the Windies in the Kolkata and Mumbai Test matches in 2013.


5Prithvi Shaw is the 5th teenager to win a Man of the Match award in his debut Test match. Hamilton Masakadza, Mohammad Ashraful, Pat Cummins, and Mustafizur Rahman are the other four.


6 – Prithvi is only the 6th Indian to win a Man of the Match award on his Test debut. The last of the previous five was Rohit Sharma in the 2013 Kolkata Test also against the Windies.


20 – Number of sixes hit by both the teams in this game. These are the joint-most number of sixes hit a Test match in India. The 2009 Test match in Brabourne between India and Sri Lanka also witnessed a total of 20 sixes.


100 – This is India’s 100th win in Test cricket at home. They are the 4th team to win as many as 100 Test matches at home after England, Australia and South Africa.


272 – India’s innings and 272-run win in this game is their biggest innings win in Test cricket. Their previous biggest was by an innings and 262 runs in the one-off Test match against Afghanistan.

This is also the second biggest innings defeat for the Windies behind their innings and 283-run defeat against England in the 2007 Leeds Test.
