India vs Windies, 2018: 2nd Test – Statistical Preview

India are set towards their 7th consecutive Test series win over the Windies as they need at least a draw in the final game of the two-match series. The teams will face off in Hyderabad where the hosts are yet to lose a Test match. Windies will be boosted by the return of their skipper Jason Holder and pacer Kemar Roach. However, their batting is needed to improve having lost 20 wickets across four sessions of play on a batting track in the Rajkot Test.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of the final Test match in Hyderabad:

3 – India have won three of the four matches they played at the RGICS in Hyderabad. Two of those three wins have been innings victories.


24 – In three Test matches at Hyderabad, Ravichandran Ashwin has claimed 24 wickets with three five-wicket hauls. The off-spinner averages 15 at this venue and has a strike-rate of 36.4. Ashwin took more than 24 Test wickets at only Wankhede (30 in four) and Delhi (27 in four).


59.05 – Ajinkya Rahane averages 59.05 in the second match of a Test series. He has scored 1063 runs in 20 innings he batted in the second match of a Test series with five centuries. Among Indians, only Gautam Gambhir (59.85) has a better average in the second Test of a series than Rahane.


198 – Jason Holder has claimed 198 wickets in his international career thus far – 81 in Tests, 110 in ODIs and seven in T20Is.


499 – The Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin (499) needs one more wicket to complete 500 scalps in first-class cricket.


500Cheteshwar Pujara has scored 500 runs in the four innings in Test cricket in Hyderabad. The No.3 batsman averages 166.67 at this venue and his scores read 159, 204, 83 and 54*.


1998 – The Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant needs two more runs to complete 2000 first-class runs. Pant has scored 1998 runs in his 27-match FC career at an average of 51.23 and a strike-rate of 92.2.


2000 – Windies’ left-handed batsman Kieran Powell (1965) is 35 runs short of reaching 2000 runs in Test cricket. The Indian opener KL Rahul (1811) needs 189 more runs for completing the same milestone.


4895 – Runs Cheteshwar Pujara has scored in his Test career thus far. He needs 105 more runs to become the 12th Indian to score 5000 Test runs. Pujara also needs 113 more runs to complete 14,000 runs in first-class cricket.
