Indian cricketer wins hearts with his gesture for a US citizen
The man by the name Adam witnessed a Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Bangalore.
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is a decent advertisement of the List A talent in Indian cricket. While 28 teams are fighting hard to advance to the knockout stages of the tournament a heart-warming gesture from an Indian cricketer has won a lot of hearts.
Adam a citizen of the United States of America, who is staying in a hotel in Bangalore wanted to watch a game of cricket on his holiday to India. He contacted and asked the hotel staff if they could forward his request to one of the cricketers staying in the hotel. They reached out to Yusuf Pathan who is with the Baroda team for help.
Baroda are in the city and have played all their games in the Just Cricket Academy or the Alur Stadium. Today they were set to face off with Odisha and when Yusuf heard of the fan’s desire he was rather pleased to oblige. He arranged for the man to be escorted to the ground by one of his close aides, ensured he was treated well.
Baroda vs Odisha
After the match, Pathan also posed for a picture with the man. As far as the game is concerned it also went Baroda’s way. Batting first they posted a huge 317/6 on the board with the help of half centuries from skipper Deepak Hooda, all-rounder Krunal Pandya and Swapnil Singh. Yusuf contributed 28 batting at No.3 and his knock was studded with five boundaries.
In their response, none of the Odisha top order batsmen got going as Baroda pacers Atit Seth and Lukman Meriwala shared the first four wickets. All-rounder Biplab Samantaray was the lone warrior in the middle order with a half century. He found a good partner in Prayas Singh who also contributed a fifty. But the target was too tall for them to scale and Odisha were bowled out for 260 in 46.4 overs and lost the match by 57 runs.
With this, Baroda are on the top of the table in Group A and thus qualified for the next round of the tournament.
