Indian stars from the 2013 Champions Trophy winning team and what they are up to now

It was almost evident that England would win the game at home with only 130 to chase in the grand final. However, MS Dhoni and India stole the Trophy from within the grasp of the English team.

The tall, lanky fast bowler who had one of the world’s greatest batsman, Ricky Ponting, as his bunny failed miserably in the short format of cricket. Inconsistency has marred the right-arm quick from making a comeback to the national team. Even though he is a regular in Test cricket for India, he has been out of the side in the ODIs for quite some time and could not make it to the Champions Trophy squad.

The bowler also didn’t help his case for a comeback with shabby performances in the IPL playing for the Kings XI Punjab. His recent figures of 56/0 would be a disaster that any bowler would want to forget.

Umesh Yadav’s emergence was one of the best points for the national team from the 2013 Champions Trophy. Since then, the right-arm quick has taken a step up with his performance against Australia in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His pace and bounce has been a worry for the visiting batsman and will feature in the national team when they play the Champions Trophy in 2017.

His pace combined with swing could be very handy under the assisting conditions of England. After doing well in the longest format of the game, he will relish the chance to prove his worth in the colored clothing as well.

The leg-spinner has not had many opportunities with the national team after the emergence of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin lately. MS Dhoni rarely used the leggie in the international arena. What was even worse for the leggie was he constantly ended up as the guy who carried drinks on to the pitch.

The leggie, however, has not had a good IPL season thus far which meant that he failed to make it to the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy.
