Indian team for 5th edition of 2018 ODI World Cup for Blind announced

The team will leave for Pakistan on January 5, 2018, to take part in the World Cup.

World Cup for Blind is a special tournament. On Monday, Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI) announced the 17-member squad for the fifth edition of the World Cup which is being held in Dubai and Pakistan.

The first ever tournament was held in New Delhi in 1998 which was won by South Africa. The second and third edition was won by the Pakistani side. They beat India in the 3rd edition when they hosted the tournament. India returned the favor in the next edition as they beat Pakistan in the finals in South Africa in 2014.

The fifth edition of the World Cup will start from 7th of January 2018 and the final will be played on 21st of January. Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Australia and South Africa are the other teams apart from India featuring the tournament.

Before the team announcement, some top-level zonal and national tournaments were held across the country in order to find the best ones. Then in Mumbai, 24th edition of the national championship was held where the top 56 players were selected for the final selection camp in Pune.

The selected members now will undergo in series of training which includes fitness sessions, food and nutrition advises, personality development sessions, meditation & yoga sessions and training sessions which will be monitored by famous coaches from the country. The team will leave for Pakistan on January 5, 2018, to take part in the World Cup.
