Indian team played with its real potential in the ODI series against SA: Syed Kirmani

The Indian team led by the highly energetic skipper Virat Kohli played a spectacular and an outstanding brand of cricket in the limited-overs series against South Africa. India outplayed the Proteas quite convincingly throughout and thus claimed their maiden series win in the Rainbow nation by a margin of 5-1.

In the entire six-match ODI series, the team performed in a dominating manner to surprise the hosts as well as the fans all across the globe. Former Indian cricketer Syed Kirmani praised Virat & Co. for a spectacular series win and applauded the whole team for their contributions in the huge victory.

The Indian team made a staggering comeback in the overseas tour after losing the Test series 2-1. Kohli led the fightback from the front scoring three magnificent hundreds in the series and was well supported by his bowlers especially the two young wrist spinners, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal who picked up regular wickets in the middle overs to rattle the opposition.

Kirmani admitted that the team could not get acclimatized well to the conditions having arrived late for the Test series. But they performed in accordance with their real potential in the ODIs which guided them to the victory.

“Before they (the team) could get acclimatized to the conditions in South Africa, they lost the Test series. They however, bounced back well and showed their capabilities in the ODIs and won it. It was a great comeback by the team to show their real potential and talent and win the one-day series,” said Kirmani as quoted by the Hindu.

People who are criticizing Dhoni are not aware of his results

The former wicketkeeper also reckoned that the modern-day game only focusses on the results produced by the players and all the technical work behind the whole process has taken aback. He took a dig at the people who constantly keep on questioning the performance of MS Dhoni. The former Indian captain has a number of mind-boggling and some spectacular achievement in the history of the game to his name.

“It is all about results. Those who are criticizing Dhoni about his keeping and batting are not aware that he has produced results everywhere.He has taken the country to the top in all the formats, led from the front. Also, he has been a great ambassador for the country and has all the credentials of a great leader. So why talk about his technique, when he has produced results,” added the former Indian keeper.
