Virat Kohli boasts of incredible numbers in the T20I format of the game
Both as captain as well as a batsman, Virat Kohli boasts of excellent numbers in T20I cricket. Kohli has led the Indian side in 45 matches till now, and India has won 27 of those. And as a batsman, Kohli is arguably the greatest willow wielder in the history of T20I cricket.
Kohli is the only batsman in history to have plundered over 3000 (3159) runs in the T20I format of the game, and has scored his runs at an incredible average of 52.65. In fact, no batsman who has scored over 2000 runs in T20I cricket boasts of an average of above 50 except the Indian skipper.
Also, Kohli holds the record of scoring the most half-centuries in the T20I format of the game, having plundered 28 fifties in 84 innings for the Indian side. India will play their first match of the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 24th October 2021 in the city of Dubai.
The last time India won the T20 World Cup was 14 years ago, in the year 2007, when MS Dhoni and his men defeated Pakistan in a nail-biting final to lift the trophy. In the 2016 edition of the T20 World Cup, India bowed out of the tournament during the semifinal stage. The ‘Men in Blue’ were defeated by the West Indies side by 7 wickets.
