IPL 10: Ben Stokes fit to play against Kolkata Knight Riders
"It's cramps in the calves. I get that a lot. Legs are not the best at the moment but I will be okay," he had quoted in the post-match presentation.
Rising Pune Supergiant all-rounder Ben Stokes is all set to take the field against the Kolkata Knight Riders in the next assignment for his team in IPL 1o. Stokes was the star of the show in the previous match against the Gujarat Lions. It was a masterly ton from Stokes that had seized the game for RPS. He became the second English player to score a century in the tournament after Kevin Pietersen.
Also, he became the second player from the RPS camp to hit a century after skipper Steve Smith did it in the previous edition of the tournament. Ben Stokes had arrived at the crease when the team was struggling at 10/3 in the second over of the run chase against the Lions. The target of 161 was a modest one but with the top three back in the hut, the task was an uphill one for sure.
He had a brief stand with Rahul Tripathi and then forged a 76 run stand with MS Dhoni to take RPS closer to the target. He eventually saw the team through with an unbeaten 103 to his name that came off just 63 balls. However, towards the fag end of the run chase, Stokes was seen in severe pain. As he revealed in the post-match presentation, he was down with cramps.
“It’s cramps in the calves. I get that a lot. Legs are not the best at the moment but I will be okay,” he had quoted in the post-match presentation.
The condition of Ben Stokes, or rather his discomfort, was a bothering part for the Rising Pune Supergiant. Many speculated that he might not be very fit for the next game. However, an official from the RPS camp recently confirmed that Stokes has recovered well and is all set to take the field. RPS are two wins away from the playoffs.
“There are no issues with him. He has rested well and is raring to go against Kolkata tomorrow,” the Pune official told IANS.
