IPL 10, Match 33, KXIP v SRH - Sunrisers Hyderabad Player Ratings

The Kings XI Punjab headed towards Mohali for the first time this season. They hosted the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in the all important encounter. While a defeat would not have impacted the position of SRH a lot, a defeat for KXIP would have seen them dwindle even more in the points table. Coming into the game, the Kings had the winning momentum to their side.

In the match, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and opted to bowl first. It was not a very sad call for Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner though. Warner revealed that he wanted to bat first anyway. What perspired next was all about the SRH batting. Shikhar Dhawan, David Warner and Kane Williamson hit crucial fifties to help SRH post 207/3 in their 20 overs.

The Kings were jolted early in their runchase. The could not recover at any stage with their batsmen falling apart like ten pins. Had there not been a certain Shaun Marsh in the lineup, the score would have surely dipped for the team. Marsh’s quick 50-ball 84 gave some hope to the hosts but it was not enough on the day. SRH won by 26 runs as KXIP finished with 181/9 in their 20 overs.

David Warner – 8/10

Sunrisers skipper David Warner played a brilliant knock at the top order. The leading run getter for SRH this season, Warner, took the attack to the opposition in the powerplay. He put on a magnificent 107 run opening stand with Shikhar Dhawan to set the tone for the SRH score.

He finished with a score of 51 in just 27 balls with 4 fours and as many sixes to his name in the innings. He was bowled by Glenn Maxwell in the 10th over. Warner had a blemish in the field though. He dropped a catch in the field which could have proved very costly on the day.

Shikhar Dhawan – 9/10

Shikhar Dhawan showed his mettle with the bat on the day. A lot has been spoken about his form with the bat in the recent times. The southpaw answered all claims with yet another big score to his name. He had a very good opportunity to score a ton on the day but missed out towards the end.

Dhawan put on a marathon stand with Warner at the top order and then had a healthy stand with Kane Williamson as well. He finished with a score of 77 off just 48 balls with 9 fours and a six to his name.

Kane Williamson – 9/10

Kane Williamson has been the new found hero for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the series. Coming into the tournament, there were a lot of doubts over the middle order batting of SRH. Kane Williamson has proven to be the consistent name in the middle over for the SRH camp.

In the game, he notched up a blitzkrieg fifty to give impetus to the innings. In the 27 balls that he faced on the day, he scored an unbeaten 54 with four boundaries and two towering maximums under his belt.

Yuvraj Singh – 2/10

Yuvraj Singh’s poor run with the bat continued in this game as well. Coming into the tournament, Yuvraj had played a magnificent knock in the tournament opener. However, a big score has eluded his name since then. He was not a part of the starting eleven in the previous game and made a comeback in this one.

He came into bat at number 4 towards the end of the innings in the 15th over. He had the license to go for the kill right from the word go but was unsuccessful in his attempt to do so. He was dismissed on just 15 off 12 balls with 2 fours to his credit.

Deepak Hooda – 3/10

Deepak Hooda did not get his opportunity to wield his willow in the match against the Kings XI Punjab. He had the opportunity to make up for that with the ball. But the Baroda all-rounder was spanked for 17 runs in the only over that he bowled.

Moreover, he also dropped a catch of Eoin Morgan in the deep that had given a brief scare to the Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, he showed great character to forget that and then took two very good high catches to contribute to the team’s cause.

Moises Henriques – 2/10

Moises Henriques had a very ordinary time with both bat and the ball. He bowled three overs on the day and the Kings batsmen seemed to have taken a special liking for his batting on the day. He ended up leaking as many as 39 runs in the match.

With the bat, he came to the crease in the 18th over of the game. He remained unbeaten on 7 and did not have a big role to play in the match.

Naman Ojha – 3/10

Naman Ojha has been a very decent wicketkeeper for the Sunrisers Hyderabad this season. Ojha was good behind the stumps on the day against KXIP as well. Ojha did not get a chance to show his batting skills owing to some superlative batting by the SRH top order.

Ashish Nehra – 4/10

Veteran Indian pacer Ashish Nehra was back to the field after a long break in the season. He came into the squad and was handed the responsibility of bowling with the new ball. Nehra proved to be very expensive and was taken away for aplenty with the batsmen taking him to the cleaners in the death overs.

However, the veteran pacer managed to be amongst the wickets. He ended up with 3 wickets to his name and conceded 42 runs in the 4 overs that bowled. He had started off on a high as he got rid of Manan Vohra cheaply on 3. He then dismissed two batsmen towards the fag end of the innings to complete his triple for the day.

Rashid Khan – 9/10

Rashid Khan has been a revelation for the Sunrisers this season. He continued to impress with the ball. He had two quiet matches coming into this game. Hence, the way he showed character in this game spoke alot about his temperament.

Rashid was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell in the game. On a batting friendly track where all bowlers were taken away for runs, Rashid conceded only 16 runs in his spell of 4 overs. He even managed to scalp a wicket in his spell and that was a key wicket of Eoin Morgan.

Siddharth Kaul – 5/10

Siddharth Kaul continued to impress with the ball in this game as well. He bagged 3/36 in his spell of 4 overs. Kaul failed to be economical though. He has proved to be a wicket taking option for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Only if he manages to control the runflow, he will become a very interesting prospect for them.

He started off by dismissing the opposition skipper Glenn Maxwell for a duck. He then ran through the lower middle order by sending back Wriddhiman Saha and Axar Patel.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 8/10

Bhuvneshwar Kumar continues to be the proud owner of the Purple Cap. He is emerging to be the best bowler of the tournament. On the day against the Kings, he continued to bowl tight line and lengths. He bagged two key wickets on the day that included the scalp of Shaun Marsh.

In the four overs that he bowled today, he returned with figures of 2/27 to his name. Bhuvneshwar bowled with precision with the new ball and backed it up with good show in the death overs as well.
