IPL 2018 Final: Ranbir Kapoor to host two-hour show; Salman Khan, Kareena Kapoor also on-board
An entire host of celebrities have been planned for the final of the tournament.
The month-and-a-half long tournament is finally drawing to an end, with the four teams to partake in the playoffs determined at the end of league matches. But broadcasting network Star India made sure that the end of the Indian Premier League will be as glamorous as it has been during the tournament.
It has been confirmed by news agency IANS that Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor will be hosting the pre-match show on the day of the final, and the two-hour long show can be expected to be an exciting and glitzy affair.
IPL 2018 final: A massively celebratory affair
In a statement released by Star India Network, it has been told to the media that the event will be hosting actors like Ravi Dubey, Gaurav Sareen, Deshna Dugad and Aakriti Sharma from the television. Among the big names of the silver screen, Salman Khan, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor Ahuja are expected to join the massive extravaganza.
However, the show will not only be in one language. As a part of extensive outreach strategies, IPL was aired in six different languages on television – English, Hindi, as well as Tamil, Telegu, Bengali and Kannada, to target the non-Hindi speaking audience. But for the final, Star India has included a total of 17 different feeds, adding more languages like Malayalam and Marathi.
In the Marathi language broadcast, the viewers can expect Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Swapnil Joshi to turn up as the special guest of the evening.
The media release also said that the new analytical show ‘The Dugout’ will continue on its own accord, and will not be interrupted with all the entertainment overload during the final match on Sunday. This has been done keeping in mind the core cricket fans, who would turn on the TV to know about the match.
The prediction and analysis based show will welcome the usual band of experts – Brett Lee, Dean Jones, Scott Styris, Anil Kumble, Kumar Sangakkara and many more.
The final will be played on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium from 8 pm. Before that, Chennai Super Kings will face off Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 1st Qualifier on Tuesday at the same venue, while Kolkata Knight Riders will host Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator at their home ground Eden Gardens.
