The Kolkata Knight Riders have done a world of good to themselves by winning their last league game against the Sunrisers Hyderbad. They have managed to chase down in SRH’s den and breach their defense, a trade the Orange Army boasted to be very good at. With the 5 wicket win, the Knight Riders now have a chance to finish among the top two teams in the league stages. However, that would depend on the end result of Chennai Super Kings’ final league game.

In the match, the Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to bat first after winning the toss. Their openers, Sreevats Goswami and Shikhar Dhawan, added 79 runs for the first wicket. Kane Williamson chipped in with handy contribution of 36 in the innings after Goswami’s dismissal. While Williamson missed out on his fifty, Dhawan went on to top score for the side with 50 to his name. Post his dismissal, the innings crashed from 127/1 to 172/9 in 20 overs.

In the run chase, the Kolkata Knight Riders got a flying start with Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine adding 52 runs in 22 balls. While Narine perished in the powerplay itself, Lynn went on to top score for the Kolkata Knight Riders with 55 to his name. He was well supported by Robin Uthappa who scored 45 in the game. Towards the end, the KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 26 to see his side over the line with 5 wickets in hand.

Here are the Kolkata Knight Riders player ratings for the match:

Chris Lynn – 9/10

Australian batsman Chris Lynn had arrived in the competition riding on a big reputation. Lynn, however, has looked largely uncharacteristic this season. But that has worked really well for his side. Lynn played yet another anchoring knock in the match. He hit 55 off 43 balls with four boundaries and three sixes to his name.

Sunil Narine – 9/10

Sunil Narine played a whirlwind knock at the top of the innings to give a flying start to the Kolkata Knight Riders. He hammered 29 off just 10 deliveries with a couple of maximums and four boundaries to his name. Earlier in the game, he bowled very well as well. In the four overs that he bowled, he returned with figures of 1/23 to his name with the wicket of Yusuf Pathan in his account.

Robin Uthappa – 8.5/10

Robin Uthappa has had a very calm outing in the IPL this season. He has got a lot of starts but has always failed to convert them to big scores. The story of this innings was no different either. Uthappa scored 45 off 34 balls with three sixes and two fours to his name.

Dinesh Karthik – 8/10

It has been the story of the season for the Kolkata Knight Riders to see their skipper, Dinesh Karthik, remain unbeaten at the crease when the team gets home. Karthik remained unbeaten yet again and scored 26 off 22 balls to ensure that his side was over the line with relative ease.

Andre Russell – 4/10

Andre Russell bowled three overs in the game and was taken away for 31 runs. He certainly was not an economical option in the game. He took the wicket of Carlos Brathwaite in the game. Later in the game, Russell failed with the bat and could only score 4.

Nitish Rana – 2/10

Nitish Rana surprised the Sunrisers by opening the innings for KKR with the ball. He, however, bowled just one over and fared decently well. Later, he arrived at the crease at the end stages of the match. He was expected to stay unbeaten but was dismissed on 7.

Shubman Gill – Not Assigned

The services of Shubman Gill were not largely needed in the game by the Kolkata Knight Riders. Gill did not get an opportunity to bat much in the game. He arrived at the crease in the final over and did not get a ball to face.

Javon Searles – 4/10

Javon Searles managed to retain his place in the side for this game as well. The veteran Caribbean all-rounder did not get a chance to bat in the match. With the ball, he got only two overs to bowl and ended up giving away 24 runs. Searles dismissed Kane Williamson in the match at a time when the SRH skipper looked in threatening form.

Piyush Chawla – 3/10

Piyush Chawla did not have a major role to play in the game. Chawla got only two overs to bowl in the game and he failed to pick up any wicket in those two overs. He conceded 19 runs in his short spell in the match.

Prasidh Krishna – 8.5/10

Prasidh Krishna has been very impressive with the ball this season. The Karnataka speedsters returned with yet another impressive spell of four overs. He finished with figures of 4/30 to his name. He bagged the big wickets of Shikhar Dhawan and Manish Pandey before running through the SRH tail in the final overs.

Kuldeep Yadav – 6/10

Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the show for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the previous game. Many thought that Kuldeep had picked up good form. But Kuldeep failed to back up the good show with another one. He conceded 35 runs in the four overs that he bowled. He bagged the wicket of Sreevats Goswami in the match.
